What’s a Korean Plastic Surgery Consultation Really Like?
I came across VIEW Plastic Surgery while researching revision eye surgery, canthoplasty, and rhinoplasty in Seoul. I booked a consultation, not really knowing what to expect, and honestly, it exceeded every expectation.
The patient coordinator went through everything with incredible attention to detail. She walked me through design options suited to my facial features, and what really stood out was that she pointed out things I hadn’t even mentioned myself. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and easy-going, which made it natural for me to open up about exactly what I wanted.
What I felt at this clinic that I hadn’t felt anywhere else was that level of detail and it was confirmed again when I met with the surgeons directly. The eye and nose surgeons were different doctors, but both took time to thoughtfully suggest designs that would suit my face and overall vibe. Knowing that VIEW has been operating for over 20 years gave me a huge boost of confidence, especially for rhinoplasty, which I’d heard carries more risk than other procedures. A clinic with that kind of track record felt like the right place to trust with both my nose and my revision eye surgery. I walked out having already booked my surgery date.
On the way out, I caught myself smiling and realized I’d felt completely at ease the entire time. Thank you for such a kind and attentive consultation. 🙂

How Painful Is Recovery After Eye & Nose Surgery in Korea? My Honest Day 1–3 Experience
I was nervous that a longer surgery time would mean a slower recovery — but the anesthesia wore off faster than I expected, the pain was less than I’d braced for, and the swelling wasn’t as dramatic as I’d imagined.
For the eye surgery, I was under twilight sedation. I woke up briefly in the middle and followed instructions to open and close my eyes. After lying still for a long time, the back of my head started to ache — but the staff immediately brought a pillow, so there was genuinely nothing to complain about. Being briefly awake during the procedure actually made me feel more reassured by the surgeon’s meticulous care. Instead of feeling scared, I found myself looking forward to seeing the results.
The nose surgery was under general anesthesia, so I have no memory of it. What I do remember is the anesthesiologist calmly explaining everything right before I went under, and the surgeon asking me a few gentle questions. That’s what relaxed me enough to drift off peacefully.
After waking up in recovery, I kept reaching for the mirror. Even through the swelling and bruising of day one, the symmetry of my eyes and the height of my nose made me happy. The rib cartilage site felt a bit tight when moving from lying down to sitting up, but that mostly resolved by lunchtime on day two. Over three days, the swelling visibly decreased every few hours — and after the nasal packing was removed, it dropped noticeably.
The bruising was mild. By day three, I had a faint yellow tinge on my cheeks, and the bruising around my eyes looked like it would clear up quickly once the stitches came out. I’d heard so many stories about difficult recoveries, but this didn’t come close to what I’d feared. I was already sure I’d made the right choice.

When Does the Splint Come Off After Rhinoplasty in Korea?
Day 7 and finally time to remove the stitches and the splint!
The adhesive tape under the splint had been irritating my skin and the itchiness under the cast was relentless. The moment it came off: instant relief. Even more satisfying than when the nasal packing was removed.
And the profile even with swelling still present, the line was beautiful. Some people say they wish they’d gone higher once the swelling goes down, but for me, knowing the current slight fullness will settle, I’m genuinely happy with it. The surgeon really understood what I was going for.
The surgeon asked several times if I had any concerns. I honestly didn’t I just kept looking in the mirror and saying “no, I love it.” I wish I’d at least said thank you properly! 🥰
How Fast Does Swelling Go Down After Eye Surgery in Korea?
Last week the lateral canthoplasty stitches were also removed. I normally take a long time to de-swell and bruise badly — but the people around me kept saying the swelling was visibly dropping day by day, and that I was looking prettier each time they saw me. Two weeks post-op and my satisfaction level is already at its peak.
The redness from the canthoplasty has calmed down as the skin healed over, and the itchiness that came with it has eased since the stitches were removed. I can’t wear eye makeup yet, which is a little frustrating — but even with just base and brows, people keep telling me my eyes look sharper, that I look younger, that there’s something more refined about me. Watching people’s reactions has been genuinely fun.
Now I just need time to pass so I can get back to running and let the last of the swelling go!
Can People Tell You Had Plastic Surgery in Korea?
Three weeks already! I’ve been hearing from people I know that the swelling has gone down remarkably fast for not even being a month out. People meeting me for the first time say it looks natural — which makes me feel like an unofficial ambassador for the clinic. 😂
The numbness around my nose from early on has returned to normal. I was told my skin might not be perfectly smooth because of previous implant history, but so far I haven’t noticed any significant texture difference. The swelling is fading a little unevenly between sides, but once it’s fully resolved I’ll be able to see the complete balance — and I’m excited for that.
My eye results are getting more satisfying every day as the swelling continues to reduce. I’m managing the rib cartilage scar with ointment and it’s healing with minimal concern. The pain has reduced significantly — now it’s just a mild dullness when applying the ointment.
I’d heard “nose surgery is painful,” “you can’t breathe properly,” “rib cartilage hurts more” — but my experience was surprisingly comfortable. Recovering this quickly despite normally being slow to de-swell really speaks to the surgeons’ skill. 😊

Is Korean Plastic Surgery Worth It? My Honest 3-Month Update
Three months. Now it’s truly just a matter of time. The residual swelling is slowly, steadily fading. The eye bruising that had been lingering is gone without me even noticing when it left. The difference between one month and two, two months and three — it’s genuinely dramatic each time.
Looking at my eyes now with the swelling fully gone: they’re bigger, sharper, and I am very, very happy. People I haven’t seen in a while tell me I look different somehow, and when I mention the eye revision, they say it looks naturally beautiful. When I add that I had my nose done too, they lose it. (I’ve already sent a few of them to book consultations. They were happy just from the consultation, which I found adorable. 😂)
In the afternoons when the morning puffiness clears, the definition really comes through and the satisfaction hits even harder.
I went in as someone who avoids cameras. Now I’m the one saying “take my picture” everywhere I go. 😂
No pain. The rib cartilage scar is still slightly pink and needs continued care. The nose scar? Honestly, I have to lean in close to even find it. No makeup needed to cover it — I genuinely mean that.
The biggest sign the swelling is truly going: I can open my mouth wide and take a proper big bite of food again. And the skin around my nose feels like my own again — flexible and natural. Three months in and I couldn’t be more satisfied. 🥹

Does Korean Plastic Surgery Look Natural After 5 Months?
It’s genuinely natural now. My parents, my friends — everyone says so. I’ve also been dieting, which has made my features look even more defined, and that’s added to my satisfaction. I’m occasionally told I look like an idol, which honestly never gets old.
No complications from the canthoplasty, no visible nose scar, and the rib cartilage site is a light pink that I barely notice anymore. No pain or soreness — I’ve actually forgotten I had rib cartilage surgery.
Everything turned out exactly the way I’d discussed with my surgeon. The side profile in particular — I love it so much.
On rest days I used to go out with eye shadow and mascara at minimum. Now I go out bare-faced and still feel confident. The scars are invisible, so I genuinely roam around without makeup. ☺️
