What is cheekbone reduction (zygoma reduction)?
Zygoma reduction reduces protruded cheekbones.
The more protruded the cheekbone (zygoma), the stronger and rougher the impression it gives out. The cheekbones may look more protruded as the cheeks sink due to aging.
Zygoma reduction further reduces the cheekbone through L-shaped osteotomy (bone cut) to make the side and front cheekbone look smaller and forms a natural volume according to the twisting movement of the cheekbones.
1. Why the cheekbone surgery (zygoma reduction) is called baby face surgery.
The cheek looks more protruded due to aging from the 30s due to droopy skin and this is why people in their 20s look older.

Zygoma Reduction Before and After the Surgery
Cut a part of the front side of the cheekbone in an L shape through oral cavity incision.
At this point, adjust the amount of cutting depending on the size of the protruding cheekbone to adjust the size of the cheekbone.
Remove bone chips.
(In most cases, a certain amount of bones is removed but if the cheekbones are not too big, only osteotomy is performed.)
Cut and separate the arch on the side of the cheekbone through the incision of the scalp around the sideburns.
Rotate and place the separated cheekbone inside.
Shave off the rough border surface and firmly fix it with pins.
