Dr. Choi Soon Woo of View Plastic Surgery attended the policy debate,
‘What Is Hindering Seoul’s Medical Tourism?’, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Special Committee on Medical Tourism,
where he proposed key institutional reform strategies to advance Seoul’s medical tourism sector.
Dr. Choi emphasized that resolving the long-standing issue of illegal broker-run hospitals is essential for restoring trust in Seoul’s medical tourism industry.
He stressed the need for strong enforcement and fundamental legal reforms so that foreign patients can place full confidence in Korea’s medical system.
He further added that ensuring transparency in patient acquisition, promoting only fully licensed medical institutions,
and strengthening oversight by both government and local authorities are critical for the sustainable growth of medical tourism.
The debate brought together Seoul Metropolitan Council members and experts from the medical and tourism sectors to discuss current issues in medical tourism.
A wide range of perspectives on the healthy and sustainable development of the medical tourism industry were shared.
